Materials used and waste generated by Gruppo Lucefin

MATERIALS USED

Gruppo Lucefin declares that steel, the input of its production process, is technically a non-renewable material as it originates from minerals coming from potentially exhaustible deposits. However, it has the intrinsic possibility of being 100% recyclable thanks to the level of technology achieved in the steel circular economy chain. The other materials used for the production and packaging of its products represent less than 1% of the materials used by the company; however, it has decided to report all the materials used, defining their origin from renewable and non-renewable sources.

Il Gruppo Lucefin dichiara che l’acciaio, input del proprio processo produttivo, è tecnicamente un materiale non rinnovabile in quanto ha origine da minerale proveniente da giacimenti potenzialmente esauribili. Ha però intrinseca la possibilità di essere riciclabile al 100% grazie al livello di tecnologia raggiunto nella catena di economia circolare dell’acciaio.

The other materials used for the production and packaging of the products are less than 1% of the materials used by the Group, but the organization has decided to still report all the materials used defining the origin from renewable and non-renewable sources.

With regard to the Group's production companies, the input of the work cycle of our suppliers was verified - whether mainly from scrap (electric furnace) or from iron ore (blast furnace). From this analysis the following results were obtained:

WASTE GENERATION AND RELATED SIGNIFICANT IMPACTS

Gruppo Lucefin declares that scrap, the main processing waste, is managed in compliance with the circular economy by sending it to recovery centres. For all types of waste, this solution is preferred over disposal centres.

The purchase of a filter at Trafilix S. Colombano Stainless Production Unit will allow the reduction and sending to recovery of residual grinding sludge. Since 2022, the Group's companies have been using a software dedicated to waste management.

Il Gruppo Lucefin dichiara che, il rottame, principale rifiuto della lavorazione, viene gestito, nel rispetto dell’economia circolare, tramite invio a centri di recupero. Per tutte le tipologie di rifiuto si privilegia questa soluzione, rispetto ai centri di smaltimento.
